On-Site Determination of Mechanical Condition
Condition analysis is based on determining the balancing need and the mechanical condition of machine components. The mechanical condition of bearings and gear wheels is supported, where necessary, by rebalancing and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
The scope of service includes crack inspections of roll shaft journals and suction roll shells, corrosion inspections of structures, testing of loading systems, and nip force and stretcher force measurements.
The mechanical condition of dryer cylinder gear wedge joints and gear backlash is determined by rotating adjacent drying cylinders to their radial extreme positions with a hydraulic cylinder and measuring the total rotation. The measurement result reveals the total backlash of the interlocking gear wheels and the movement allowed by loose wedge joints.
