UV Lamps

UVA-340 and UVB-313 fluorescent lamps used in UVBOX series accelerated UV weathering test chambers.

UV fluorescent lamps are more stable than other lamp types, including xenon arc lamps: their spectral power distribution (SPD) does not change with lamp ageing, even after thousands of hours of operation. This gives more reproducible results, less frequent lamp replacement and lower operating costs. The UVBOX operates with 8 lamps (UVA or UVB) installed at once.

  • UVA-340: best simulation of sunlight in the critical wavelength region from 365 nm down to the solar cut-off value of 295 nm
  • UVB-313: maximizes acceleration using more aggressive UV short waves than those that normally reach the earth's surface; can produce overly severe, unrealistic results for some materials
  • Spectral power distribution does not change with lamp ageing, unlike xenon arc lamps
  • 8 lamps installed per UVBOX instrument
  • Fewer replacements and lower operating costs over the instrument's service life
