Accelerating the weathering process requires accurate reproduction of the sun's rays. The air-cooled xenon lamp in the Solarbox replicates the full spectrum of the sun; easily interchangeable UV filters then shape that spectrum to match the specific spectral distribution found in the product's real end-use environment.
All filters are made of extra-long-life soda-lime glass, except the basic 290 nm filter fitted as standard on the base 1500/3000 models. Filter and lamp ageing are both compensated by Solarbox's closed-loop irradiance control system.
- Basic 290 nm filter — standard on 1500/3000 models, maximum UV effect
- Outdoor soda-lime UV filter — for products exposed to direct sunlight
- Indoor soda-lime UV filter — for products exposed to sunlight through glass
- Outdoor / Indoor filters with Infra Red reflection coating — reduced infrared heat load
- Custom filters tailored to specification on request

Application Areas
Periodic filter replacement on Solarbox series xenon test chambers due to filter and lamp ageing; selecting the correct filter to match the product's real end-use environment (outdoor/indoor, IR heat load).
