Radiant energy in the Solarbox is provided by a single, superior air-cooled Xenon Lamp, positioned at the focus of a parabolic reflector chamber. This design guarantees irradiation uniformity across the flat sample tray and correlates well with rotating-drum xenon exposure systems. Unlike UVA/UVB fluorescent lamps, the xenon lamp replicates the full spectrum of the sun, not just the short-wavelength UV.
Lamp and UV filter ageing is continuously compensated by Solarbox's closed-loop irradiance control system with a narrow-band sensor, so replacement lamps restore original test conditions rather than requiring recalibration of the whole method.
- Single air-cooled xenon lamp — no water cooling required
- Generates irradiance levels up to two times natural sunlight
- Average service life of 1,500 hours
- 1500 W for Solarbox 1500/1500E; 2500 W for Solarbox 3000/3000E
- Positioned at the focus of the parabolic reflector chamber for uniform irradiation
