STEP Lab's drop weight towers can run both single- and multi-axial impact tests on standardized products and specimens; they are designed for accurate, repeatable results. A wide impact energy range from 0.2 J to 2000 J provides flexibility for a broad variety of products and materials. A large specimen mounting volume further increases test capacity.
A comprehensive accessory selection is available, including load cells, anti-rebound systems, spring accelerators and a wide range of instrumented impactors and specimen holders. Key features include an intuitive user interface, high safety with door interlocks active during reset, a pneumatic weight-release system, automatic weight retrieval and positioning, and variable drop height.

Test Methods
The most common drop-weight impact test methods are: puncture resistance testing, Compression After Impact (CAI) testing, tensile impact testing, 3-point bend testing and wedge peel impact testing. These tests evaluate the toughness of polymers, load-deflection curves and total energy absorption during impact events.
